The opening day of Lancashire's County Championship game with Surrey was lost to the rain at Blackpool's Stanley Park.

Overnight rain had already left the outfield boggy and with more wet weather around umpires Jeremy Lloyds and Nick Cook called a halt to proceedings at 1pm without a ball being bowled.

The call meant it was a seventh full day of Lancashire's Division One season campaign which has been washed out without a ball bowled.

The county have often complained that the weather has badly affected their title challenges, and again they were left kicking their heels in the pavilion.
